Four Decades of Power Factor Correction
Best Practice is incredibly pleased to present Power Capacitors Ltd with its highly regarded Product Innovation Award.
Ever since its inception in 1973, the Birmingham-based business has concentrated firmly on power factor correction and related capacitor technologies. Situated in Tyseley, the manufacturers recognised that there was a gap in the market and so set out to address the ever-increasing requirement for a higher level of engineering quality.
The power factor correction specialists have developed a wide selection of products and services; obtaining the biggest stock of power capacitors in the country means they remain unparalleled in the industry. Capabilities include the distribution of motor and power electronics capacitors and the servicing, maintenance and installation of any type of power factor correction equipment.
“We aren’t just a distributor – we offer a comprehensive service for clients,” explained Pete Moss, Managing Director at Power Capacitors. “We provide surveys followed by recommendations, and when an order is taken, we then implement the equipment build, testing, dispatch and installation. We ensure optimum product life by seeing through the complete equipment cycle; from its manufacture and warranty to expiry, whilst servicing it at least once a year and upgrading parts where appropriate.”
One of Power Capacitor’s most significant products is the TRANSWAVE Converter®, which offers a cost-effective solution to companies operating three-phase equipment. Aimed mostly at the domestic market, the converter eases operations in home workshops, farms, garages and small business environments as it provides an artificial means by which three-phase machines can be managed from a single-phase supply.
According to Pete, Power Capacitors has a whole host of operational advantages. “We offer a service which goes above and beyond the level of our competitors,” he commented. “We have a superior quality of products and builds, and when it comes to manufacturing, we can provide a great deal of flexibility.
“We design solutions for individual requirements, as opposed to just offering standard catalogue options. We see it as our remit to ensure only the most suitable product is chosen for customers in order to place them in good stead for the long term.”
Over four decades in the industry has allowed the company to experience exceptional growth, having formed a solid relationship with Electronicon, acting as the UK agent for the biggest capacitor manufacturing company in the world. This rapid development has resulted in its acquirement of an extensive customer base, ranging from multi-national blue chip companies to private independent businesses. It also acts as a contractor for major supermarkets, such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Morrisons and Iceland.
Pete is confident that the company will keep flourishing: “Over the course of the past 5 months our offices have had substantial refurbishments, with the acquisition of new equipment and the expansion of our servicing and maintenance teams. We have progressed significantly in recent times and we anticipate further growth in the future. We will continue offering viable propositions to our customers in order to bring in more work.”
